Why use a proofreader?
In order to be more productive and efficient, smart court reporters use proofreaders to catch those errors they may miss -- another pair of eyes to give your work a last look. You can't rely on Grammarly! Punctuation can actually change the meaning of a sentence.
And it's not just punctuation and spelling you need to watch out for, but formatting and chronological mistakes as well. I've seen depositions that ended before they began!

Your job is hard enough. Why add to your workload? Producing top-notch transcripts each time will keep you in demand, and not having to proof your own work means you have more time for reporting -- and making more money!

I know your name goes on that finished transcript, not mine, so I will follow your preferences in regard to capitalization, commas vs. semicolons, etc.

I'm thorough, fast, and professional. I am ready to help you!
The Process
1. Contact me regarding availability
Send me an email and we'll talk about what your job entails and the turnaround time. If you're a new client, please fill out the supplied Preference Sheet (click below).
2. Send me the transcript
Once a job has been scoped, send me the pages in PDF format. This is more efficient than the old method of errata sheets because my eyes never leave the page. If it's a large job, please send it in batches. That way we can both be working on the job at the same time. I will confirm receipt of the job.
3. Receive the corrected transcript
Click below to see a sample of iAnnotate. You will only receive pages containing corrections, saving you from having to go through the entire transcript.

You will need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat to view the pages. If you need a way to convert to PDF, CutePDFWriter is recommended. I can also convert your .txt files, but the formatting will be better if done on your end.

About Me
My background is in legal and medical transcription, and I have worked in attorneys' offices for almost 20 years as a secretary/administrative assistant. I'm very familiar with transcripts of hearings, depositions, EUOs, etc.

I'm the one who sees errors others miss. I'm the one others go to in order to have their work double-checked.
I'm thorough, fast, and reliable. I completed an extensive online program and was trained using Morson's, BGGP, and Gregg's.

Making proofreading a career just seemed to be a natural extension of my personality and abilities. Even in my free time what I enjoy is reading, playing Words With Friends, and doing the NY Times crossword puzzle. Guess who started her neighborhood book club?

I also love gardening and decorating. And if I can read outside in the garden, that's the best of both worlds!
